BRIAN ON “LONG GONE”:
I wanted to do an acoustic song, but not a “slow song.” It had to be really kicking, and I was thinking of Johnny Marr or a Western-style Ennio Morricone vibe. The sentiment is, “Don’t worry. This isn’t going to end badly because I’ll be gone before that.” I’m not necessarily speaking about an event. I’m speaking about an inherent emotion, and it feels very melancholic and beautiful.
NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
This was a Gen X dream to work with Matt Pinfield. Growing up with MTV, I had a healthy obsession with music videos, truly believing it was a solid career choice, to direct them. I blame Matt a little, because his endearing curiosity and non-cynical love for all music was contagious. 120 minutes and Matt’s voice was the last of its kind, before shows had judges and lost that authenticity, inclusivity and charm. –Suzie Vlček
