SSPU MERCH COLLABORATION SERIES: MARY STREEPY

February 12, 2020

We’re so thrilled to announce that we’re kicking off the first SSPU Merch Collaboration Series with artist Mary Streepy. We will be carrying all of Mary Streepy’s merch designs (pictured below) on the road and online until March 1st, with a portion of the proceeds going to ACLU.

You can grab your tee, hoodie or poster at the merch booth during our February/March tour (view all dates HERE) or online HERE.

* Please note that the faces tour posters are only available on the road, and the poster in black is an exclusive item for all who have purchased a VIP Soundcheck + Meet & Greet Package, and it is not available online or at the merch booth.

Christopher’s Note on Mary Streepy:

I first got wind of Mary Streepy’s art after I saw a Stubb’s concert poster she made for Courtney Barnett and Waxahatchee, some of my favorite songwriters. I loved the poster so much I went to her Etsy page and instantly fell in love with all of her artwork and immediately bought a ton of her shirts which I now wear during SSPU shows. Serendipitously, I went see Camp Cope at the Bootleg Theater in LA and to my surprise she was at the show! So I awkwardly introduced myself to her and asked if she would be interested in being a part of the artist collaboration series we were about to embark on. She said yes right then and there and she absolutely did not disappoint. I’m so thrilled with her designs and honored that she was the first in our series of limited edition merch designs with some of this series’ proceeds going to ACLU, a charity we both feel very strongly about.

Mary Streepy’s Design Inspiration:

I really love doing illustrative portraits and thought the members of SSPU would be perfect for this style. While working on it, it started to become a nod to old 60s/70s album covers and the colors were sort of dictated by this thought process. The shapes of everyone’s head then just fit perfectly together and I included the hand to create a fun elemental balance. Going on tours, you pass by a lot of landscapes, hence the addition of the trees and the earthy underground for the tour poster. We could all use some good grounding before times of lift off. It was a pleasure to work on! Thanks for the inspirational music, SSPU. <3

More on future collaborations soon!
